NEW YORK (Billboard) - As George Harrison's solo recordsbecome downloadable and Martin Scorsese documents his life,Wu-Tang Clan has received permission from Olivia Harrison andWixen Music, the publishing company that represents GeorgeHarrison's estate, to do a reworking of "While My Guitar GentlyWeeps" that features Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist JohnFrusciante and Erykah Badu. ADVERTISEMENTThe track is not a sample from the Beatles' "White Album,"as has been reported, but a rerecording. The Wu-Tang Clan albumis called "The 8 Diagrams," and will be out December 4.
In other Beatles news, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison andSean Lennon joined Yoko Ono in Iceland for the unveiling of theImagine Peace Tower on Videy Island near Reykjavik. A choirsang "Imagine." The tower will be lit every year from JohnLennon's birthday, October 9, to the anniversary of his death,December 8.
And starting November 16, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famewill feature a "Help!" memorabilia exhibit to coincide with theDVD release of the restored version of the 1965 movie.
The exhibit will include George Harrison's original scriptand, reportedly, archives of material including artifacts andphotography documenting the making of the film.
