Will MS, Sony Allow Valve to Release Free TF2 DLC?

PC gamers are already enjoying the free new content in Team Fortress 2 (our own Sal Accardo has written a pretty fantastic guide to the newest map, Badlands). When those will come to the consoles, and how much they will cost, is still very much in the air. Valve's VP of marketing Doug Lombardi spoke to Eurogamer:Oh, for free, definitely, as much as we can. You know, we don't have full say over that, but we have some say over how that works.

So, for us, for free is the way to go. The gamers play the game, they want to keep playing the game, so we've collected their fifty bucks at the start, and once they're in the park, they can ride any ride they want in the park. So, for us that's been the philosophy.However, we've already seen Epic's troubles in releasing DLC for free on consoles, so whether Valve will be able to do so is unclear. The irony is that of all the DLC out there, Badlands is high up on the list of what we would pay for.Email a Friend
