Ozmo, Intel Hope to Replace Bluetooth with Wi-Fi

Ozmo, an Intel-backed start-up, has created new technology that can use Wi-Fi for personal area networking applications. Bluetooth typically handles PAN functions, such as communicating between a PC and a mouse or other peripherals. Ozmo's software drivers and integrated circuit allow Wi-Fi radios to communicate with one another. The benefit is that equipment makers can reduce the number of radios inside devices, reduce battery rain, all while still offering the same functionality at a lower cost. Ozmo is ramping up production of its circuits and hopes to supply them to electronics manufacturers later this year.
