In case you're a Wii-man or Wii-woman who needed any more prodding to have a look at Animal Crossing: City Folk when it comes out next week, here's a quick mini-list of special events and happenings you'll run into in the game, courtesy of this week's Famitsu magazine. Some return from the GameCube and DS games, some are brand-new, all are no doubt scumptious and delightful.

- Joan the boar is back selling turnips around town every Sunday during the AM hours. As before, there's two types of turnips she sells: regular white ones, which go up and down in price, and special red ones that you can plant and dig up later for big bucks.

- There are fishing contests on the first four and last three months of the year, each with a different fish being your target. Likewise, bug-hunting contests are held every month from June to September, with you earning awards based on the rarity and size of the stuff you catch.

- Wisp the Ghost, a character secret enough in the GameCube version that he showed up mainly on cheat sites, makes a return appearance. Find a lamp for him that's hidden somewhere in the village, and he'll reward you with your choice of helpful services: weed picking, cockroach extermination, or a simple item gift.

- Pascal, the otter who occasionally showed up seaside in Wild World and gave you his deep insights on the world at large and furniture in particular, is back. You'll find him by the river that flows through the village.

- Easter...er, Bunny Day is here, too, complete with an egg hunt -- find a prizewinning egg and you'll get to trade it in for some special houseware.
