During a conference call for investors yesterday, Electronic Arts announced that a couple of their upcoming shooters will be missing their intended release dates (via Shacknews). The free-to-play Battlefield Heroes will slip past its originally planned summer release to the end of the year, while the Command & Conquer-set first-person shooter Tiberium will be pushed back to the 2009-10 fiscal year.

During the call, EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed that Battlefield Heroes would be "launching at the end of the calendar year." The reason? "We decided to increase its focus on some of the social networking features," Riccitiello said, noting that they'd like to implement more beta tester feedback and new, unspecified features. Riccitiello also expressed that despite the delay, the game "still feels like it's progressing much like we anticipated," and that "the last thing we want to do is jab it in the marketplace."

As for the heftier delay for Tiberium, no explanation was given for the decision. The last time we got a look at the game was back in January, and it wasn't shown at E3 earlier this month, which at least doesn't bode well for its current state. The game was originally planned for a late 2008 release, but with it now set for the 2009-10 fiscal year, the earliest we'll be seeing it is April, 2009.
