According to data from the June NPD report dug up by Engadget, it appears Nintendo has so far sold 441,400 units of the Wii MotionPlus add-on -- an astounding number, considering the add-on's signature game, title="Wii Sports Resort">Wii Sports Resort, is still a week away from release.

The report shows that Nintendo sold 169,000 MotionPlus units separately in June, while EA Sports sold 272,400 units of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for the Wii, which packs in a MotionPlus with every game. Add it up, and you get nearly 500,000 MotionPlus add-ons already in living rooms across the country (and since these are only June numbers, that's not even taking into account the additional sales that have occurred in July so far). With Wii Sports Resort set to go on sale on July 28 (and judging by our review, it's probably going to sell pretty well), the number of MotionPlus owners is only going to skyrocket more quickly.

With some odd 50 million Wii owners worldwide, Nintendo does still has a long way to go in getting a majority to invest in their latest add-on. But at this rate, it sure looks like they're off to a good start.
