Palm today announced that the webOS software development kit is available for any and all developers, sooner than expected.
The Mojo SDK provides frameworks, APIs, services, sample code and documentation for creating native webOS applications in JavaScript, HTML 5, and Cascading Style Sheets. When the Pre smartphone was released in early June, relatively few developers had a copy of a Mojo, as part of Palm's "early access" program.

In late June, Palm said, with little explanation, that Mojo's general release would be delayed until late summer, but it expanded the size of the early access, adding thousands of new developers in just a few days. "We've been working very hard on the SDK and are eager to open access on a wider scale, but the software and the developer services to support it just aren't ready yet. Our goal is to make the SDK available to everyone by the end of this summer," wrote Palm's Chuq Von Rospach in a June 19 post on the Palm developer blog.
Today, a post on the Palm main blog announced the Mojo release with even less explanation. The SDK is available at the webOS developer site.
Developers in the early access program were enthusiastic about webOS and the Mojo toolkit. Sophisticated applications could be written using existing Web development skills and technologies, and Mojo gave access to an array of operating system and device features.
With or without Mojo, hackers enthusiastically began dissecting the innovative webOS the day of the Pre's release.
