Collaboration ended when the movie didn't go forward. By Kat Bailey, 07/24/2009
"That Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening," he said, referring to the Halo Chronicles project.
The project was first announced all the way back in September 2006, and Microsoft was allegedly "hard at work" on the project as recently as last year. It was described as one of two episodic series that Microsoft said they had in development. As recently as last year, Microsoft was still hiring for the project.
"That fell apart because of internal politics at Fox and Universal. It had nothing to do with the budget or anything else. In fact, we hadn't even been greenlit at all at that point."
And so goes the Halo Chronicles project. But as Joystiq points out, that does leave the question of what exactly 343 Industries -- Microsoft's brand new Halo studio -- is up to these days.
No matter what they're up to now, Halo fans won't have to grieve too hard for Halo Chronicles. After all, they've still got Halo ODST, Halo Reach and the Halo Legends project to look forward to. And it's a good bet that there's more beyond that.
