    Description
    In the collection of Palace Museum, Beijing
    Ren Renfa (1255-1327), born in Jiangsu, painter and expert in water conservancy in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). He is excelled in calligraphy and painting, especially of horses. “Two horses” is different from those paintings that depict the power of horses. Ren Renfan compared the thin horse to uncorrupted civil servants, and the fat one to corrupted, through which he expressed his opinion on officialdom. This composition acted as the satirical drawing we often read on nowaday newspaper, which was seldom seen in traditional Chinese painting over past time.
