How to Set iTunes to Automatically Update Podcasts on an iPod

Manually updating the podcasts on your iPod can be time-consuming and frustrating, while setting iTunes to update automatically can be much quicker and easier. Podcasts, which are television or radio programs featured on iTunes, are fun to watch and let you catch up on your favorite shows. Follow these steps to set iTunes to automatically update podcasts on an iPod. Instructions Difficulty: Moderately Easy Steps 1 Step One Launch iTunes on your computer. Once the program loads, enter the iTunes store. 2 Step Two Find the Podcasts link, located on the top left side of the screen under the heading iTunes Store, and click on it. Search the different categories and options on the page once it has loaded. 3 Step Three Select the podcast that you will be purchasing (or downloading if it is free). You have the option to subscribe to the podcast, meaning that once a new one is launched, iTunes will automatically download the next one for you. 4 Step Four Click on the option for your podcast, whether it be "Subscribe" or "Get Episode." The episode will be transferred into your library. 5 Step Five Connect your iPod to the computer using the white cord that was included with your iPod. The long, skinny rectangular end plugs into the bottom of your iPod while the USB (smaller end) plugs into your computer. 6 Step Six Click on the name for your iPod under the Devices category on the left hand side of the screen. Once the main summary screen loads, check to see if the box next to "Manually Manage Music and Videos" at the bottom of the screen is checked. If so, uncheck it. 7 Step Seven Select the Music tab to the right of the Summary tab near the upper part of the screen. Check the box next to "Sync Music" once the screen has appeared. 8 Step Eight Check the box "Selected Playlists" once the menu appears under the "Sync Music" option. As the next menu appears, check the box labeled "Podcasts" to allow iTunes to update your iPod automatically, every time it is plugged in. 9 Step Nine Select any other options, such as Audiobooks or Music. Whatever you select will be automatically updated. You can leave the screen at any time, and the current settings will be saved.
