How to Photograph Pets

Step 1:
Get down on their level. When you get down with your pet, face to face, it's like you're seeing the world through their eyes and eliminating the human perspective.

Step 2:
Avoid flash photography. Not only will a flash change the color of the photo, it may also scare the animal. And you can count your photo shoot over once you've frightened your pet!

Step 3:
Get an assistant. If you want to get fun playful shots of your pet, get someone else to do the playing! This will allow you the photographer to get in the action but hopefully your pet will be too busy having fun to notice you and your camera!

Step 4:
Close ups. Does your dog have the cutest ears you've ever seen? Is your cat's paw simply adorable? Take a picture! There's nothing that says your pet photography has to be the whole pet. You can make a collage of your pet's features to capture the essence of him!
