Step 1:
Open the laptop and connect it to a power source. Let it boot up, allowing the start menu and programs to be loaded correctly.
Step 2:
When your laptop is properly powered, loaded and ready for business, find your iPod and its USB adapter cable.
Step 3:
Connect the iPod's USB adapter cable to the iPod. Then connect the other end of the cable to the laptop computer.
Step 4:
Check the iPod screen. A charging icon should appear on the screen, usually something showing a "do not disconnect" message. If this appears on the screen, your iPod should be charging. A battery icon may not be specifically displayed.
Step 5:
Wait several minutes and disconnect your iPod. Check the iPod's battery power to see if it actually was charging. If so, re-connect and finish charging. The entire charging process may take up to several hours.
